8 Days to GO!!

Well that is another week down and now there is only 8 days to go!

Tomorrow I get the cases out of the loft in the garage and the packing begins. We can only have 23kg each so there won't be any hair dryers or War and Peace this trip. New batteries for the scales was the order of the day, but I should not have got on them to do the test bit....... well at least I know that we will be able to go to 30kgs on the scale to get real weight of 23kgs; right?

With all the riding that Jude and I have done we have learnt the art of packing a bike, but it is still going to be a mission. We are going into areas that have been having temps of 50 degrees and other areas that will be as low as 12 degrees, what do you pack? Well Jo, one half of Jo and Dennis our leaders, has prepared a suggested list of items, which is a great help, and one we will follow pretty much. To keep the weight down we will wear our riding boots, jeans and jackets plus take our helmets onto the plane as hand luggage.

While we are away the house is undergoing a bit of maintenance so we have the plasterer here at the mo; we have one lot of bedroom furniture in the lounge and hallway plus all the wash house stuff in the kitchen and garage, including the washing machine and tub, which means we have to rely on very good friends, and their machine, to help in our hour of need; thanks Jim and Colin.

Having this work completed while we are away is not the best but not having to live the way the house is now will be great: boy it's a mess. Jordan, our son, and his merry group of helpers are going to do the demolition stuff which would be worth staying behind to see. I can see the glee in his eyes now!!

Did I tell you there are only 8 days to go....!!!?
