Well today was a pretty eventful one! Why you ask? well sit down and a tale I will tell.
The day started surprisingly cool which was a pleasant change. We headed off straight down the I25 at the same pace as previous days. The size of the place means that even at the 75-85mph you don't miss anything. Not too far past Trinidad we were up and over another pass and into New Mexico. Our first stop was Eagle Nest which is a little town built around a small lake. As is the case with some servos it took a very long time to get everyone gassed up on both sides of the front. From Eagle Nest it was off to Taos.
Taos is very much Mexican. The buildings, including houses, are all adobe mud clad. Today was market day so the car park in the centre of their shopping mall was taken up by stalls. Everything was very well made and inexpensive but being on a bike means you can't buy. Whilst waiting to depart our tour leader Jo gave us some bad news. One of the couples in the group following us had come off their bike; she was ok as much as ok can be but her husband had sustained two broken ribs and a punctured lung. He has to remain in Taos for a week but can't fly for 5-6 weeks. As far as their tour with us goes it is over which is a bit sad as they had been planning this for two years.
This accident put us back by three hours and we had three hours of riding to get to our destination. What made it worse was that while we were waiting at the hospital a thunder storm came in and dumped on us so it was breakout the wets, slit into two groups and we were off, in the rain to Acoma Plueblo and the Acoma Sky City Casino; a dry hotel so a lot will not like that!
It has been a very very long day today so there won't be any photos this time, sorry, but it is now 2321hrs and I am too buggard to do anything with then.
Tomorrow it is Holebrook here we come! Good night.
